I wonder if they would get any other "major" stars for the other roles, or at least names that are familiar, sort of like David Wenham. It will also
be interesting to see how they cast the Native Americans.

I would be interested to see who they cast as young Tom ( will he look a bit like Hugh
) and who will portray May's daughter who is described as her spitting image
(will she look as exotic as Rachel Weisz ).
Also, will Hugh and Rob P learn a bit of the Commanche language for this film, or will they be dubbed? I think Hugh did speak some aboriginal phrases in AUSTRALIA. |

Yea seriously, he's going to bust it up on the Comanche. And I doubt anyone big will be cast for any of the remaigning roles. The biggest of which will be
Rachel, Neighbors, and Jack, they'll probably be those, "OH I KNOW HIM" but you can't think of their names, sorta actors, lol.

I hope they're smart enough to cast native American actors for the Comanche roles especially Buffalo Hump, which is a pretty big, important
and historically real part. The other important roles are Neighbors and Jack. I would think they'd be played by someone fairly well known for good
supporting parts. There are a lot of really good actors who play supporting roles as well as lead roles in independent films. William H. Macy, Gary Sinise, or
Josh Brolin for instance. Josh would be interesting as Jack.

I wonder if David Wenham could be Neighbors? And who looks a little like Hugh?

Danielle, I just found this photo of Neighbors. David Wenham could do him nicely. It's quite a formal picture. I'm sure when he was out
with his translator visiting the indians he was a bit scruffier.
I also found this quote about another native group: Major Robert S. Neighbors, special agent for the Indians of Texas, was a loyal and courageous friend and protector of Caddo rights and safety. |

David Wenham wouldn't be a bad match to him at all!
And I think Josh would also be a good choice for Hugh's brother. Plus he can handle both Jack's serious and humorous side. |

That would be awesome if they could get someone of Josh Brolin's caliber. But I highly doubt it, he's been shot up to leading man now with his Oscar
nod and the great reception he's been getting for his last few projects.

It would be good if they could cast some americans. So far we have an aussie and two brits. I know that an actor's nationality shouldn't really matter
if they can play the part but it still rankles a little. I know I get a bit peeved when a story set in England is cast with a bunch of foreigners.
...without Baz and his crazy vision, I don't think it'd be happening.

I agree re the fresh faces. I seriously don't think they're going to be high profile people in the supporting roles, so they'll probably be some
recognizable faces, but no one big or semi big like Brolin. Although that would be amazing.

Ya, I was thinking the same thing about them probably being much smaller names. Only time will tell I suppose!

I'd have thought Eric Schweig would be a frontrunner. He played "Uncas" in
"The Last of the Mohicans", is about the same age as Hugh and has even played "Buffalo Hump" in a tv series. He played the abductor in
"The Missing".
...without Baz and his crazy vision, I don't think it'd be happening.

Hengist wrote:I had forgotten about him. He's a really good actor and would be perfect for Buffalo Hump. His role as Uncas would be similar to Buffalo Hump in this movie being an adopted brother, so to speak, to Tom like he was to Hawkeye in LotM. |

I saw a little girl in a commercial that reminded me so much of Rachel Weisz. It was for a gps thing (I think) and there was a little boy &
a little girl going through the city as Hansel and Gretel dropping bread then when they discover the pigeons had eaten the bread crumbs they use the gps thing.
Did anyone else see her? Anyway, she reminds me of Rachel W and would make a good young Rachel in the movie before the Indians capture her.

Me again! Saw the movie Swing Vote last night. I was disappointed and thought the movie could have been much, much better. The one bright spot
was the girl who played Kevin Costner's daughter. Her name is Madeline Carroll and she was excellent in a tricky part. She was basically the grown up in
the relationship. She seems to be getting a plethora of roles at the moment, probably due to this performance. She would be just about to turn 14 when filming
shoots so maybe she could play the older Rachel. There was even a scene where she had her long hair in braids like maybe older Rachel would wear.
Did anyone see her in Swing Vote or see the commercial I mentioned previously about the other little girl (for younger Rachel)? |

I haven't seen the movie nor anything with Madeline in it, but I looked her up on IMDB and she's adorable! I think she could pass for Rachel's
daughter. But she looks a little young?
