If Hugh is planning on taking a break until the new year anyway, then I'm sure Rachel will be available then also. I don't think Whistleblower will be
more than a 3 month shoot.

It looks like she's been attached since May. Variety.
May isn't in every scene of Unbound Captives so they could start without her.
...without Baz and his crazy vision, I don't think it'd be happening.

Independent film with a hefty 90M budget!!! That's the reason I don't see it as an independent film a la Slumdog Millionaire or something like that.
Yea it's being financed as one but I would think filming would at least take about 3 months, at least. I guess as long as there's about 6-8 months left
for post, then we'll be fine, assuming this is shooting for a late December release, I'll feel good as long as it's done shooting by April.

No rest for the weary -- it looks like the top three stars will have their hands full before they start filming THE UNBOUND CAPTIVES. I guess Hugh will have
the longest preparation - as he has to revisit some action routines ( horseriding and action scenes), undo his Chicago cop-speak and learn some Comanche,
refocus his acting perspective from cocky alpha male downspiralling to an emotionally-disturbed character in ASR to one who is recovering from a traumatic
childhood and finding peace as a recovering white Indian in TUC, giving up the coldish/sometimes warmish NY weather to the hotter climes of New Mexico and
maybe New Zealand ( now on its spring break)??
Hugh and Rachel will devolve from theatre and emotionally-fraught roles while Rob will be back from fantasyland. Have they cast the daugher Rachel? |

If Hugh hadn't confirmed TUC recently to someone at the ASR stagedoor, I was already getting a bit wary that this film will start shooting fairly
soon...although he didn't really say when he was going to be involved in it.

He also told Katie Couric he was doing it and he was going to "have a break" after the play ended so I took that to mean after the holidays.
I'm surprised no one asked him about Carousel. |

OH SORRY PAT!!! Lol, I was like uhhhh this is so not an indie movie! But yea you're right, that probably won't take long to shoot.
I'm surprised no one has asked him about Carousel either, I hope someone does before he's unaskable, lol. |

It is very difficult to ask him a question now ...or at least last week.
Coming to work, he only allows himself about an hour before the performance -- so he needs to put on his stage makeup and costume...and then the mental and psychological preparations for the role ( if you haven't seen it, the end shows a very emotionally distraught Hugh, and you can see his face flushing, the veins on his neck prominent, and the tears welling up and eventually coursing down his cheek). So, he probably has only a few minutes at the stagedoor with many, many fans now in hot pursuit! LOL! We also noticed that even male fans want a piece of Hugh even before the show - they were very aggresive in catching his attention and getting their autographs and photos taken with Hugh. Ughhh... I was able to ask him two questions ( I had several chances pre-show) because I piped in loudly while he was signing stuff or having a photo taken with others. *What's the update on Houdini? Reply: It is still being written. *Are you hosting the next Oscars ? Reply: I don't know. He is in such a hurry these days ( unlike TBFO days) that it is almost impossible to catch up with him. Even when we knew where he was walking to work, when we caught up with him ahead of the others, he said he is going to keep walking while he signed stuff ;) Post-show -- there is a mob scene every night. The roars and cheers when he gets out are so loud that the show across is forced to put up signs on their sidewalk ( also occupied by the ASR gawkers) asking to observe silence or quietness because there is still a performance going on ( the walls of the Music Box theatre are paper-thin). I had seen a lady fall down with a barricade that fell to the side of the street. I understand there is pushing and shoving and some heated words in those barricades. Even the cops ( not just the theatre security) are yelling to the crowds to keep well within the "pen" ( Ugh - I really looked at him and muttered underneath my breath " What are we -- a herd of animals to be kept inside a "pen"). It is not easy to get close to him to be able to ask a question. But I was happy with my experience as I had 5 chances to see the show - all front row center orchestra, except for one on the second row. My goal was to see his acting at close range...to do some reaquainting with how he looks ...and to memorize the play - LOL! |

I really can't believe you got to see the show FIVE times... and I can't even see it once. Let alone meet Hugh! =( You're very, very lucky.

I finally saw it also - Hugh was absolutely FABULOUS as was Daniel. I heard someone mention Hugh and then said "what an actor!" at the end and lots
of Bravos! with the two curtain calls. I'm glad he was Denny because for me, that was the more emotional role and I love it when he gets to show that.
Hope they both do the movie!

Too bad both us ( Narrows and Moi) missed the start of the BC/EFA Gypsy campaign - which started only late this week. It looks like Hugh and Daniel are very
enthusiastic about the campaign --
http://broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?thread=1006058&dt=4&boardid=1 http://www.talkinbroadway.com/allthatchat/d.php?id=1786544 I loved the auctions during TBFO, but now that Hughie is being the MC ( with a "giddy sidekick" named Daniel), this must be such a hoot! I wonder how much DNA they put on the auctioned shirts ( that was the main selling point when they used to auction his TBFO t-shirt)

I am so cynical, I wonder if they ever really wore those t-shirts.

LOL - probably not! It is not as if they were undressing onstage and auctioning them off - haha! Or maybe they did put it on for a few seconds - after all, it
cost the new owner $5000 for each undershirt, together with an autograph
Btw, someone from Australia who posts on another board said that it was quite amusing to hear two actors speaking with a Chicago accent during the play, and then come out after curtain call to start auctioning stuff with an Aussie and a Brit accent

Now I'm worrying about the schedule.
"I had three days off between Remember Me and Eclipse and then I've had to start learning Comanche and bareback riding for Unbound Captives. I don't only want to do the same part. I'm doing Bel Ami, based on the Guy de Maupassant novel in January as well, and I don't really know how I'm going to fit that in. I have to gain weight - but I don't think they'll let me put on much as I have to shoot the final Twilight movie afterwards. I have to look older, as the character Georges Duroy has been living hard for a good six years just getting drunk all the time. So I want to look a bit haggard." Robert Pattinson
...without Baz and his crazy vision, I don't think it'd be happening.

Which probably means that all the filming for THE UNBOUND CAPTIVES will be mostly in New Mexico and nearby Hollywood, if Robert Pattinson's overlapping
schedules need to be accomodated
I wonder when they can go to New Zealand, or will that be just for scenic photography...and the actual scenes with the main actors done on a sound stage for the summer scenes ( presumably that will be the southern hemisphere's climate in the first quarter of 2010)?

Or if they do go to New Zealand, Rob isn't needed for that part of the shoot. He's not needed for the whole movie so I do wonder how many filming days
he will need.

He probably wouldn't need to be there for anymore than 2-4 weeks so I think it will be fine. At least we know it's in their schedules and will film
some time soon.
