"for release by early 2011". The interview also confirms New Zealand and New Mexico because of the need to shoot in different seasons.
...without Baz and his crazy vision, I don't think it'd be happening.

Oh, it says BY, omg something is freaking wrong with my eyes today. By 2011 seems like yes, they're aiming for late December, perhaps a qualifying run
thing in NY and LA for awards. I can totally see it being a Christmas release sorta movie, much like Ben Button was. It's bad I'm thinking awards but I
can't help it, that's just where my mind wanders when it comes to movies like this.

I'm almost positive that if this movie is anything decent, it will be released--at the lastest-- Dec 2010. It has Oscar, at least for the technical
aspects, written all over it.

I agree, if it comes out the way it's supposed to. There will be no way they'll miss that opportunity.

Please, not early 2011 - that's the graveyard shift for movies
I think what could be problematic is that this is a first directorial job for M. Stowe which could present its own set of problems in terms of managing timetables. The movie is also being envisioned as having movie epic proportions and that could present problems related to location filming that may not totally be within her control ( Remember how the unexpected floods drowned the set of Faraway Downs in AUSTRALIA...and how the equine flu further pushed the completion of the film?). On the other hand, she is blessed that her leads are very fine actors and with the discipline of the theatre. I wonder if they are now going ahead with the casting -- it is only 4 months to December! |

I can't see an supposed epic like this being released at the beginning of the year. But another cast member has been announced - brother Jack! Garret
Dillahunt.

I hope if end 2010 is unrealistic, that they are scheduling it for late spring in 2011 ( say, last weekend of April, as the beginning of May is the start of
summer for purposes of movie releases
). Who is responsible for
domestic distribution - has that been worked out by Endeavor yet? Isn't Armitraj's production company responsible only for international distribution (
by selling distribution rights)? Even a late spring release makes it hard to sustain interest for Oscars 2012

The start of the year is a good time internationally - it's when we get most of the award hopefuls. I think Amitraj was speaking to an indian publication
so he could have been referring to the international release.
...without Baz and his crazy vision, I don't think it'd be happening.

Hope you're right, Hengist, that he was referring only to the international release.

I just want them to find a release date where it will find an audience. We haven't heard who the US distributor will be and that could make a big
difference depending on what other films they're planning to release.

Good point Hengist re the release date - it may very well be he was referring to international. I can't see a movie like this being released in the US in
the beginning of the year.

I like him, and he does actually quite resemble Hugh. I totally see this movie being the end of December release, seems/feels like that sorta movie when
reading the script. But yea I do wonder who the US distributor is going to be, I don't really know how all of that works but can it be distributed by like
Fox Searchlight which would be great, or does it have to be distributed by a big studio since the budget is pretty hefty?

On producer Ashok Armitraj about a party celebrating his career in film producing held last September 18 , with a brief mention on THE UNBOUND CAPTIVES --
http://www.indiawest.com/readmore.aspx?id=1495&sid=5 As for the future, Amritraj is extremely optimistic. He is set to start work on "The Unbound Captives," which stars Hugh Jackman and will be directed by Madeline Stow. At a budget of $90 million, this will be his biggest venture to date. So this at least reassures us that things are proceeding, as expected.

The budget still kinda scares me and interesting that it only says Starring Hugh Jackman, where's R-Patz and Rachel? I'm sure they're still on.

It's good to see that. I'd be more reassured if they'd got the right cast for Moonlight Mile.
